This summer our library, and libraries across the country have used the theme "Every hero has a story" to promote summer reading. I decided to incorporate that into the book-group and set out to find a heroic book for us to read. There are so many to choose from; it was very hard to narrow down to just one book. I finally chose Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. I chose this book, not only because Luttrell himself is heroic, but it shows how heroic our country's military is, and I wanted to learn more about what our troops have been doing overseas in countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. I have always had a strong love for America, and am very proud to be American. After reading this book, that pride increased tenfold. What these men and women endure to ensure the safety of our country is simply amazing. It is simply humbling to read the story of what Marcus Luttrell and his fellow SEALs went through in the Hindu Kush.
